Currently I work with sketchbook drawings and writings, made in pencil and black ink. I find this is a fast medium to work in, and I am looking for fast release or expression of my thoughts, ideas and feelings, possibly as a form of self therapy. I like this handmade and traditional aesthetic (especially the roughness), contrasted to the sharp clean perfect images from digital media, which I have worked in for many years – particularly interactive storytelling, AR and Generative Art. Before working as an Artist I was a Graphic Designer for many years.
My work mainly considers themes of social justice, politics, and news, which all have a strong bearing on my work.
My individual pieces of work tie together into a practice through the formats I use (usually involving writing and drawing), through the themes I choose to explore, and how I approach them.
Generally I see my work as activist, pointing people to news and subjects that I select, opening windows and inviting them to question and explore further.
