BIOGRAPHY

Dave Miller is a UK artist, designer and academic who explores current issues and news, often focused on politics, class, power and finance. He tells stories through his multilayered art works, in the form of drawings, paintings and comics, but also digital – multimedia, code, and generative art. His work has been presented at museums, galleries, conferences and festivals around the world and is included in the Rhizome ArtBase, and the ELMCIP Anthology of European Electronic Literature. 

Exhibitions/ presentations include: MINA Australia (2017), MIX Digital, Bath (2015), V&A (2014), Furtherfield, London (2012), LUMEN_EX 2010 competition (Spain), Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum Web Biennial, FILE 2007 (Brazil), Generative Art, Milan, 2005&6.  He holds a Masters Degree in Graphic Design (1988) in Networked Media (2005), and a Postdoc in Augmented Reality (2013).

ARTIST STATEMENT

Dave Miller is a UK artist, designer and academic, who explores current events and news, often expressing social comment and political views on class, power and finance. He tells stories through his art, which is often multi-layered, involving traditional drawings, paintings and comics, digital drawings, and also networked digital media and code. He has used the Internet as a medium for experimental texts and drawings since 2004, creating computer-generated narratives, augmented reality, generative art and interactive stories.

Dave Miller has taught widely, including at LSBU, Bournemouth University, Bedfordshire University, Greenwich University. He worked for many years as a Graphic Designer/ Web Designer/ Technical Writer for small and large companies, including BNP Paribas, O2 (Cellnet), Amadeus, IBM, HP, Phillips and Olivetti.
